Following The World Cup, The ICC Announced New Rules
In Order To Regulate The Amount Of Time Between Overs In Men’s ODI And T20 Cricket, The ICC Has Decided To Put In Place A New Rule.
The Third Time A Bowling Team Fails To Be Prepared To Bowl The Next Over Within 60 Seconds Of Finishing The Previous One, They Will Be Assessed A Five-Run Penalty, Per The New Rule. A Stopwatch Will Be Used By The Match Officials To Measure The Amount Of Time Between Overs. The New Rule Will Be Implemented On A Trial Basis From December 2023 To April 2024. In Odis And T20Is, An In-Match Penalty Rule For Slow Over Rates Was Also Implemented Last Year. This Rule States That The Fielding Team Must Place One Additional Fielder Inside The 30-Yard Circle If They Are Unable To Begin The Final Over By The Deadline.
