Lok Sabha Elections 2024: RJD gains 26 seats, Congress gains 9 in Bihar as part of the INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing agreement
The seat-sharing arrangement for the next Lok Sabha Elections was disclosed by the opposition’s INDIA bloc parties in Bihar on March 29.
Of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will run for 26 of them, while the Congress will put up candidates for the remaining nine seats.
According to the agreed-upon plan, the Left parties will run for five seats.
The Congress won only one seat, while the RJD and Left parties drew blanks in Bihar in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The NDA alliance, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) 33 seats together. The remaining seats were won by the undivided LJP.
Along with running jointly in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP, JD-U, and LJP have also decided on a seat-sharing plan for Bihar. The JD-U will run for 16 seats, while the BJP will compete for 17. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, is going to run for five seats.
One seat each will be contested by the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) and the Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM), led by Jitan Ram Manjhi. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, is going to run for five seats.
On April 19, the seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections will get underway. On June 4, the results will be made public.
