Threats of bombs at Delhi schools: LG VK Saxena visits DAV School Model Town and reassures residents of safety
Following the receipt of bomb threats by mail on Wednesday by about sixty schools in the Delhi-NCR, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi visited DAV School in Model Town. He gave residents assurances of safety and promised to take tough measures against the perpetrators of this incident.
VK Saxena stated in an interview with ANI, “The police were notified as soon as word of bomb threats reached schools. The area was cordoned off, and search efforts are ongoing after the Delhi police arrived promptly. Here, too, are bomb squads and bomb disposal units in operation. We are fully prepared.”
He added that the letters have been tracked down by the police. “The source of the mail has been identified by the Delhi Police. The culprits will face consequences as a result of the ongoing inquiry,” Saxena stated.
“I also received the information at around 7:30 am and I had asked the Police Commissioner to pay attention to this matter,” he continued, assuring the public. I would like to reassure the people of Delhi that the Delhi Police is on guard and that we will make every effort to prevent any untoward incident.”
The LG also tweeted, “Spoke to the Police Commissioner and sought a detailed report into the bomb threats at schools in Delhi-NCR,” using his official X handle. instructed Delhi Police to examine the school grounds thoroughly, find the offenders, and make sure there are no oversights.”
“I ask the parents to work with the administration to ensure school and kid safety, without becoming overwhelmed. The offenders and miscreants won’t get away with it,” he tweeted.
The Delhi Police conducted a thorough investigation at every location, according to Suman Nalwa, PRO, and have not yet discovered anything suspicious.
Speaking with ANI, Suman Nalwa said, “I don’t have the exact numbers but several schools approached us saying that they received mail regarding the presence of bomb at the premises. When the Delhi Police received the call, the police took each and every call seriously and have conducted thorough research at every place but till now, nothing has been found.”
She added that it appeared as though someone had done this to incite fear after examining the time at which the emails were sent. “If we look at the timing, almost all the schools received the threat at the same time, and nothing has been found and it seems like somebody has done this to create panic.”
She also told the parents not to freak out. “The only thing I want to tell the parents is to not freak out since we too value these calls greatly. There is one security component, and we are following the protocol and doing all the required steps for it. The second thing we are doing concurrently is investigating.”
Threat emails were forwarded to all Delhi-NCR schools; as a precaution, these schools were closed, and the students were returned.
During the preliminary inquiry, emails were sent to numerous Delhi schools. Threat emails were sent out using the same format. There is no mention of the dateline. The police had stated earlier in the day that “it is evident that one email has been sent to multiple addresses because BCC is mentioned in the correspondence.”
Bomb threats have been made to numerous schools. More investigation into the case is in progress, and we are looking into all of the threats,” the police continued.
