5-Ingredient Ayurvedic Recipe for Digestive Issues
Ingredients:
Cumin Seeds: In Ayurveda, cumin seeds are prized for their ability to aid in digestion. Cumin, which is high in essential oils, promotes the release of digestive enzymes, improves nutrient absorption, and lessens gas and bloating.
Ginger: Ginger, which is well-known for being warming and anti-inflammatory, is a powerful treatment for digestive distress. It eases indigestion, calms the digestive system, and encourages regular bowel movements.
Fennel seeds: Fennel seeds help to relieve gas and bloating due to their carminative properties. By encouraging the passage of food through the digestive system, they also aid in promoting easy digestion.
Coriander seeds are prized for their cooling qualities, which counteract too much heat in the digestive system. They aid in reducing indigestion, bloating, and discomfort brought on by digestive disturbances.
Lemon Juice: Lemon Juice acts as a natural digestive tonic. Its acidic nature stimulates the production of digestive juices, aiding in the breakdown of food and easing digestive discomfort.
Instructions:
In a pan, dry roast 1 teaspoon each of cumin seeds, fennel seeds, and coriander seeds on low heat until they release a fragrant aroma. Allow them to cool.
Grind the roasted seeds into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.
In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil, and then add the ground spice powder to it.
Add 1 inch of freshly grated ginger to the water.
Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to infuse.
Turn off the heat, and let the elixir cool slightly.
Add the juice of half a lemon to the mixture and stir well.
Strain the elixir to remove any solid particles.
Serve the Ayurvedic digestive elixir warm, sipping it slowly after meals to aid digestion and promote digestive harmony.
