The Chairman Of Reliance Jio Infocomm, Akash Ambani, Announced On Wednesday That The Largest Telecom Company In The Nation, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Is Collaborating With The Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT) Bombay To Introduce An AI Model Called ‘Bharat GPT,’ Which Will Be Developed In-House.
He Made These Remarks At Techfest, The Annual Three-Day Science And Technology Festival Of IIT Bombay That Got Underway On Wednesday. “We Have Been Working On A Project With IIT Bombay To Launch A Bharat GPT Program,” He Said.
Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan Of IIT Bombay’s Department Of Computer Science And Engineering Is Collaborating With Reliance Jio To Develop Large Language Model-Based Solutions And Generative Pretrained Transformers For Important Business Verticals Like Retail And Telecom.
Speaking About The Potential Applications Of AI, Ambani Stated, “With Large Language Models And Generative AI, We Have Just Scratched The Surface. These Applications Will Define The Next Decade.”
AI, According To Ambani, Will Revolutionize All Product And Service Categories. He Declared, “We Are Working Extremely Hard To Launch AI As A Vertical Inside Our Organization As Well As Horizontally Across All Of Our Sectors.”
Apart From IIT-Bombay, A Consortium Of Other Iits Will Also Be Working On The Project.
Lead By IIT Bombay, The Bharat GPT Consortium Is A Unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) Effort That Intends To Produce Multilingual And Multimodal GPT/Llms That Are Focused On India. Other Notable Academic Institutions That Are Part Of The Consortium Include Bhashini (A Subsidiary Of The Ministry Of Electronics And Information Technology), IIT Madras, IIT Mandi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, And IIM Indore. In Addition To Reliance Jio, NASSCOM, And Seetha Mahalaxmi Healthcare Private Limited, Which Is Run By Dr. Vishnu Vardhan, The Consortium Is Currently Collaborating Closely With DARPG (Department Of Administrative Reforms And Public Grievances), According To Prof. Ramakrishnan.
