“It’s very exciting to be part of this edition, which is set to be the biggest one yet,” said Yuvraj Singh, the 2007 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champion. “Some of my fondest cricketing memories have come from playing at the T20 World Cup, including hitting six sixes in an over.”Cricket is growing in the USA, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that growth through the T20 World Cup. The West Indies is a terrific environment to play the game, with the fans that come to watch creating an atmosphere that is very unique to that area of the world.
It’s an honor to be a part of and watch the world’s finest players play in a brand-new stadium for India’s match versus Pakistan in New York, which is set to be one of the largest athletic events of the year.”
“It’s an honor to have Yuvraj as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Ambassador,” stated Claire Furlong, General Manager of the ICC for Marketing and Communications. Being the first player to knock six sixes in a T20 International, he owns one of the most famous moments from the tournament, making his name synonymous with the T20 World Cup. As the first ambassadors to be revealed, he joins Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt, who will all heighten the anticipation for what promises to be the greatest T20 World Cup ever.”
The first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will take place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on June 1–29, with co-hosts the USA against Canada. Twenty teams will compete in a total of 55 matches at 9 different locations, with the Barbados final scheduled for June 29.
