In WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.24.8.11, the “Disable Link Previews” feature was added. WhatsApp is making this capability available to all users after a successful test period.
By enabling users to shield their IP address from websites run by third parties, this function seeks to enhance users’ privacy. “Advanced Names” is an option that users can discover in WhatsApp’s privacy settings. Users will have two alternatives if they select this option. “(Protect IP address in Calls)” is the first option; it safeguards the IP address while making calls. “(Disable Link Previews)” is the second option. When selected, it stops link previews from being created in chats, making it impossible for outside websites to determine users’ IP addresses.
Users only need to click the switch button next to the appropriate choice to activate any of these capabilities. The toggle will turn green to show that the feature is enabled and grey to show that it is inactive.
